  • Does job posting date matter?.

As a job seeker, do you ever look at the date a position is posted?

    If not, you should.

Time to fill is a KPI (Key performance indicator) for recruiters and organizations that essentially measures the number of days between the publication of a job and getting an offer accepted.

Computer-to-plate (CTP) is an advanced technology used in the printing industry that eliminates the need for traditional film-based processes in the prepress stage. CTP involves directly transferring digital files from a computer to a printing plate, bypassing the need for intermediate steps like film creation and manual plate exposure. Here's how the CTP process typically works:

1. File Preparation: The digital files, which contain the design and content to be printed, are prepared and optimized using appropriate software, such as Adobe InDesign or Adobe Illustrator. The files are typically created in a high-resolution format and may undergo color management adjustments if necessary.

2. Plate Imaging: In the CTP workflow, the prepared digital files are sent directly to a CTP system. This system consists of a specialized plate-making device that uses lasers or other imaging technologies to transfer the image onto a printing plate. The plate can be made of aluminum or other materials suitable for the printing process.

3. Plate Development: After the imaging process, the exposed printing plate is processed through a plate development system. This system removes the non-image areas from the plate, leaving behind the image areas that will hold the ink during printing.

4. Quality Control: The developed plates are carefully inspected to ensure that the image reproduction is accurate, and there are no defects or issues. Quality control checks may include examining the plate for any scratches, registration errors, or other abnormalities.

5. Plate Mounting: Once the plates pass the quality control checks, they are mounted onto the printing press cylinders or platesetters. The plates are precisely positioned to align with the paper or substrate that will receive the ink during the printing process.

6. Printing: With the plates in place, the printing press is ready to run the job. Ink is applied to the plates, which transfer the image onto the paper or substrate. The inked image is then pressed onto the paper with the desired pressure and speed, resulting in the final printed output.

CTP technology offers several advantages over traditional methods, including improved efficiency, higher quality output, faster turnaround times, and reduced costs. By eliminating the need for film and manual plate preparation, CTP streamlines the prepress stage, reduces errors, and allows for greater flexibility in the printing process.
